United Hospital Center (UHC) in Bridgeport, West Virginia, approached BlaineTurner Advertising with a request. The Cecil B. Highland, Jr. and Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center at UHC offers patients access to the latest cancer treatments from board-certified medical and radiation oncologists. UHC wanted something unique to offer to its patients, from first diagnosis through treatments and cure.
“We have identified a real need for this type of resource in our region and we want to utilize new media to provide education and psychosocial support to cancer patients,” said Linda Carte, RN, MSN, AOCN, and Director of Oncology. “It is important for cancer survivors to know there is a peer out there that understands what they are going through and that support is available.”
BTA and UHC collaborated to produce a fourteen chapter, comprehensive video that will serve as a lifeline for every patient at every level of diagnosis and treatment.
The video entitled, You’re Not Alone: Understanding the Journey through Cancer with UHC, launched in August of 2013 and encourages patients to become active partners in their own treatment. It includes sections like, “What is Cancer,” “Pain Management,” “Rehabilitation,” and “A Healthy Diet Helps.”
Since the video is available online to all patients free of charge, BTA wanted to go one step further. Health-related searches on Google are up 47% from last year. With that said, it is vital for a health-related web page to appear more often on Google search results. Currently, the BTA team, including its 2 Google Adwords certified professionals, is developing a Google Adwords campaign to strengthen the video’s Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. SEO is the process of positively affecting the visibility of a Web page in a search engine’s organic results.
Additionally, 81% of people click on a sponsored link when looking for health information. With that in mind, BTA has created budgeted advertisements that appear in search results that include a list of selected keywords. BlaineTurner’s Google Adwords certified staff will continue to utilize Google to help our clients’ Web pages get more hits, clicks, and shares.
